St John Health operates six primary health clinics across the metro area located in Cockburn, Joondalup, Armadale, Cannington, Midland & Osborne Park. Our facilities are state of the art and offer a range of combined health solutions including general practice, urgent care, dental, allied health services and x-ray facilities.

The role:

We currently have an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced Clinical Lead Nurse on a full time 12 month fixed term contract based in Cannington.

The Clinical Lead Nurse is responsible for managing their nursing FTE, overseeing the performance and training of the nurses and daily coordination of patient care/flow within the treatment room.

The Clinical Lead Nurse also facilitates and promotes patient safety and quality of patient care whilst improving patient health outcomes within relevant standards and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Representing St John WA values, Lead with Heart, Walk the Talk, Think Team and Make it Better
  • Responsible for the leadership and management of the nursing team including their ongoing education and development.
  • Continuing the development of Primary Health Care, Preventative Health Care and Urgent Care model in line with organisational goals and strategic planning
  • Provide skilled, timely and level-headed emergency response to unwell patients and appropriately triage patients
  • Promote continuous quality improvement and safety improvement maintaining accreditation under the RACGP’s standards for general practices (5th edition)
  • Participation in developing guidelines within a Clinical Leadership Team to ensure excellent standards of care and compliance.
  • Management of medical supplies/consumables and maintaining stock
  • Manage rostering according to FTE and day to day coordination of staffing issues
  • Assisting with the recruitment of appropriately skilled and committed Nurses
  • Effectively communicate, escalate and report to senior management as required and provide data reporting to meet KPI’s

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration with no restrictions
  • A respected leader of people with a strong ability to motivate, inspire and improve the clinical standards within the facility
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver clinical training and support nursing staff to achieve competency
  • Confident nature and a strong working knowledge of accreditation compliance
  • Strong business and financial acumen coupled with an operational knowledge of the admissions procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of nursing care in fast track/rapid assessment treatment settings such as ED/medical assessment unit/urgent care primary health care centres
  • Good IT knowledge and experience in the use of Best Practice software/HOTDOC or other general practice software
  • Understanding Vaccines and the National Immunisation Program Certificate and CPR Certificates
  • Police Check (no more than 3 months old)
